The 3 songs I remember hearing on the radio were Rockin' In A Christmas New Year from The Fools, Christmas In Kenmore Square from Billy West & Tom Sandman (which I still think are great songs) and You Don't Have To Buy Me Anything For Christmas from Barry Marshall & Beth Harrington.....those songs were played for years and years....
And of course, take a look at the bands featured: The Fools, Barry Marshall, The Outlets, The Neighborhoods, Barrence Whitfield and The Savages, The Nervous Eaters, Semper Fi and don't forget Willie Loco Alexander.....big names on the Boston music scene at that time....
Please give it a listen and Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!
WBCN 1990 Lunchtime Christmas Countdown
A co-worker of mine had mentioned that she had this tape of hers. She told me it was when WBCN used to do their lunchtime countdowns with Ken Shelton. I had told her I had my own BCN Christmas tape as well. I borried hers and transferred both tapes....
It's a very funny tape and I hope you all enjoy it!

Local bands from New England and Beyond.....
I am looking for any hard rock, heavy metal and hardcore bands that want a little free promotion....even cover bands.....
What I need is any pictures of the band, a CD (or a copy of one you can email me) and any info about the band....plus if there is anything you'd like for me to post.....Place it in a winzip file and send it my MYSpace page located on the links section....
This is for the bands that I see at the various shows that give out their CD or tape just to get their name out there....I want to help!
Are you one of those bands?

Pour Some Sugar On Me
This is a karaoke type video that my friends and I did back about.....15 years ago, I think.....We had a few beers, hanging out at Hampton Beach and we happen to walk by the place and figured....What the hell!
We searched through all the videos and this was the only song we knew....the other stuff was only dance crap....
The funny thing was that after we finished, we got applause from the crowd outside watching us....we didn't realize that they were showing it on a screen outside the store....
Please enjoy and have a few laughs!
Thank you!

Boston Rock and Roll Anthology #16
The Best Of Boston Music Showcase Vol #1
Boston Rock And Roll Anthology #16
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0OWCNZ05
- Farrenheit - The Living Daylights
- Regular Humans - Hide Behind Your Smile
- Close Enough - Float With Us
- Macey's Parade - Cold, Dark, Icy Stare
- Bruce Marshall Group - A Man Like Me
- House Of Cards - Du Bahdi Ay
- The Probes - War Of The Classes
- The Gypsy Mechanics - I'm Not Your Jesus
- The Shrubs - Walking In The Dark
- Creative Force - Games
- Judy Oliver - My Mannequin
- The Injury's - Choke Chains
- One Eyed Jake - City Ride
- Mass - Under The Gun
- Chop Shop - Teazer
- Forty Thieves - Midsummer's Day
- Q-36 - Secret Girl
- What's In The Fridge - What's In The Fridge
- T. Chenel - Prime Of Our Lives
- The Count - Transporter
I've had this compilation for a long time. I had gotten it because of the Mass song "Under The Gun", which is an awesome tune.
This compilation has been out of print for a while and one day, I am looking around Ebay for some Charlie Farren, I come across this and it is still there for $100. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRR-16-JAMES-BOND-CHARLIE-FARREN-TRANSPORTER_W0QQitemZ4778245568QQihZ017QQcategoryZ307QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
I was amazed! I had asked the guy why, he told me just as it said on Ebay that it was because of the Charlie Farren tune "Living Daylights" which was supposed to be on the James Bond soundtrack but it never happened and also because of the Mass song.....that was it....I just laughed to myself....I paid $2 for it at Nugget Records years ago....
When I started this site, I told myself that I would post this just because I can't see anyone paying that much money for this....it's ridiculous.....
Besides Mass and Charlie Farren, look out for Macey's Parade (which my friend's band had opened for a few times) and Bruce Marshall, which had been a staple of the Boston scene for years....
Please enjoy this and post any comments!
Thank you!!!!

This is great music from a great band! These are friends of mine who were the house band at Bill Ash's Lounge in Revere, MA for a number of years.
They are the perfect pop/rock band. I have seen them live more times than I can count and they always put on a great show!
Dana West was also my guitar teacher for a while. I wish I had the time to have kept it going....
I just found out that they are doing a SASS reunion in January. http://www.sassrock.com/sass_news.htm
Also, check out Gary's band Take That appearing at Bill Ash's Lounge.
I can't wait for it!!!

This tape was given to me by a close friend years ago. He had decided to tape the band because we were going to The Atlantic Lounge every weekend and we enjoyed the band so much. We had already bought the demo tape they were selling but he wanted to have more of their music. He taped it and had made a copy for me. I've had it for years and I found it recently.
Yes, that is "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul and it is a kick ass version of the song....They also do a fantastic version of "Walkin' The Dog", "The Real Me" and "Stay With Me".
Their original songs are amazing!!! All I can say is I wish these guys had gotten signed.

This is the same line up as the demo for these guys that I posted before.
Please enjoy!!!

I first saw them at The Channel opening for MASS back in 1986. I think I have a guitar pick from that show too that I will have to find...
I also saw them open for Nazareth at The Paradise in February 1987.
Unfortunately, they broke up shortly after that. But a couple of years later in 1990, they had formed a new band called Spread Eagle which I got to see at The Channel.

Beat Magazine
In the very near future, I am going to start scanning my Beat Magazines and start posting them here either as a downloadable format like the demos or post them here on the site.
I have kept a ton of issues of the magazine from when they were just a local mag and being a small magazine to the full page issues that they used to publish.
If you've only heard of it but never saw them....stay tuned here to see them once again!
Koala Red
What's different about this is that it is only a 2 piece band.
One member plays drums, the other keyboards. And they both sing.
They have a big Beatles, Rush and Billy Joel influence.
And the sound is incredible.
Please take the time to give this a listen. I have more demos and live shows to post from this band.

- Rock & Roll Radio
- Call Me
- Never Gonna Stop
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2BVKAZC1
Warren Hosker - Vocals (He was with Jet Screamer)
This tape was my first introduction to the local scene. I had bought this from a friend for $2.00 back in 81. I have been listening to it ever since....
About 10 years ago at a previous job, someone at work had transferred a couple of tapes to CD for me. This one and The Tears demo which I will post later.
The only thing I know about this is that the singer is from either Jet Screamer or Scorcher (I can't remember which) and that it kicks ass!
I mentioned that I had this tape to a couple of friends and it surprised them. They remembered Gary and I guess it brought back a lot of memories to them. The CD was dedicated to Gary Howland, he was killed in a car accident. They told me who played on it but I can't recall. If someone knows, please let me know.
Take the time and listen to this. It's great music. Enjoy!!!

Why?
From local to national acts and loved seeing them all...
During that time I have collected a bunch of demo tapes from that bands I have seen to help support them and because I have enjoyed the music.
Now, because of the technology, I am starting to transfer all my tapes to MP3 and I want to share with everyone all the cool music I have grown up with....
Stay tuned to this blog for demos, live shows and more from a bunch of awesome local artists and good friends.....
