Uncle Freak was founded out of Boston Mass. Band has gone through many changes over the years was formally called Bacchus back in the 80's when Joe paul (original) guitar player was in the band then David, Tom's highschool buddy was added soon after, band opened and played with bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Mother Love Bone, Extreme, Godsmack, Disturbed, Black Label Society, to only name a few.......

This was from the Bill Ash's 1st Battle of the Bands Finals on August 6, 1989 hosted by a WBCN DJ.

I also have sets from Vernia Caliper and Toymaker from that night which I will post later on.

This is the only known recording of the band. The singer told me a while back that they never made a demo and that I had the only recording of them. I lost touch with him amny years ago and I was hoping to give him a copy of this.

Beat Magazine

Anybody remember Beat Magazine?
In the very near future, I am going to start scanning my Beat Magazines and start posting them here either as a downloadable format like the demos or post them here on the site.
I have kept a ton of issues of the magazine from when they were just a local mag and being a small magazine to the full page issues that they used to publish.
If you've only heard of it but never saw them....stay tuned here to see them once again!

Koala Red

This is the first demo from my friends band. They later changed the name of the band to Just Us and then finally to Southpaw.
What's different about this is that it is only a 2 piece band.
One member plays drums, the other keyboards. And they both sing.
They have a big Beatles, Rush and Billy Joel influence.
And the sound is incredible.

Warren Hosker - Vocals (He was with Jet Screamer)

This tape was my first introduction to the local scene. I had bought this from a friend for $2.00 back in 81. I have been listening to it ever since....

About 10 years ago at a previous job, someone at work had transferred a couple of tapes to CD for me. This one and The Tears demo which I will post later.

The only thing I know about this is that the singer is from either Jet Screamer or Scorcher (I can't remember which) and that it kicks ass!

I mentioned that I had this tape to a couple of friends and it surprised them. They remembered Gary and I guess it brought back a lot of memories to them. The CD was dedicated to Gary Howland, he was killed in a car accident. They told me who played on it but I can't recall. If someone knows, please let me know.

I have been going to shows all my life....
From local to national acts and loved seeing them all...
During that time I have collected a bunch of demo tapes from that bands I have seen to help support them and because I have enjoyed the music.
